This was originally my research blog. I was a PhD candidate at the University of York, in the department of language and linguistic science. I am a sociolinguist, researching language variation change, and my PhD topic focuses on the dialect of Brazilian Portuguese spoken in the capital of Brazil, Brasília. Unfortunately, due to health problems, I was forced to terminate my studies.

In the mean time, I began blogging on other matters—intemperantly, rantily—at a new blog. In 2017, I decided to coalesce the two here.

Posts prior to 2012 are largely academic; those after mainly rants and dubious attempts at humour.
